Twilio SMS
The Twilio SMS integration sends TrueGrade alerts as text messages — the right channel for time-critical notices that field crews and subcontractors must not miss, since not everyone checks email during the workday. SMS is one of the available notification channels.
SMS is configured under Settings → Integrations → Notifications → Twilio SMS. Only Admin and Platform Admin roles can configure it. TrueGrade sends SMS through your own Twilio account, so message costs are billed to you by Twilio.
What You Need
From your Twilio account (twilio.com ):
| Field | Where to find it |
|---|---|
| Account SID | Twilio Console dashboard |
| Auth Token | Twilio Console dashboard (keep this secret) |
| Sending phone number | A Twilio phone number provisioned for SMS |
Your Auth Token is a secret, like a password. TrueGrade stores it encrypted and never displays it again after you save it. Only an Admin can update it.
Setup
Enter your Twilio credentials
Go to Settings → Integrations → Notifications → Twilio SMS and enter your Account SID, Auth Token, and sending phone number.
Send a test message
Enter a mobile number and click Send Test. Confirm the text arrives, then save.
Choose which alerts use SMS
Under Settings → Alert Cadence, select SMS only for the most urgent notification types — typically same-day compliance deadlines. SMS is best kept for a small number of high-priority alerts.
Cost Awareness
Because SMS is billed by Twilio per message, reserve it for alerts that genuinely need a text. Routine digests and early-warning notices are better delivered by email, Slack, or Teams to keep your Twilio costs predictable.
Disabling SMS
Click Disable on the Twilio panel to stop sending texts. Your credentials remain saved (encrypted) so you can re-enable later without re-entering them, or click Remove to delete them entirely.
