Drawing Annotations
Drawing annotations let your team attach context-specific notes, issues, and photos directly to a location on a drawing sheet. Instead of referencing “the north wall on sheet A3.1,” everyone sees a pin in exactly the right spot.
Uploading Drawings
Upload drawing sheets from Field Reporting → Drawings → Upload Drawings. Accepted formats:
- PDF (multi-page PDFs are split into individual sheets)
- JPEG / PNG (for scanned drawings)
Drawings are organized by:
- Sheet discipline: Architectural, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Civil, Specifications
- Sheet number: e.g., A1.1, S2.3, M1.0
- Revision: track drawing revisions; superseded sheets are archived but accessible
Adding Annotations
Open a drawing sheet and click anywhere on the drawing surface to place a pin. Each annotation includes:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Type | Note, Issue, RFI, Punch item |
| Title | Short description |
| Body | Detailed description |
| Assignee | User responsible for resolution |
| Photos | Up to 5 photos |
| Priority | Low, Medium, High, Critical |
| Status | Open, In Progress, Resolved, Closed |
Annotation Types
- Note — informational, no action required. Used for as-built documentation, install instructions for field crew.
- Issue — something requiring resolution. Linked to Issue Tracking (see Issue Tracking).
- RFI — request for information from the architect or engineer. Can be flagged as awaiting response.
- Punch Item — pre-completion deficiency list item. Used during project-owner walkthroughs.
Annotations of type Issue are two-way linked — creating one from a drawing pin also creates an Issue in Issue Tracking, and resolving the Issue from that module automatically updates the pin status.
Filters and Views
Filter the drawing view by:
- Annotation type
- Status (open only, resolved, all)
- Assignee
- Date range
The filter state persists per session, so a superintendent can open the drawing and immediately see only their open items.
Drawing Sets for Project-Owner Submission
Generate a Drawing Package — a PDF export of selected sheets with all annotations, photos, and resolution notes included as overlays. This is commonly used for project-owner walkthroughs, punch list submissions, and closeout packages.
