Issue Tracking
Issues represent discrete problems, deficiencies, or action items that arise on a project. Issue tracking in TrueGrade gives every open item an assignee, a deadline, a priority, and a full activity trail.
Creating an Issue
Issues can be created from three places:
- Field Reporting → Issues → New Issue — standalone creation
- Drawing annotations — placing an Issue-type pin on a drawing creates an issue simultaneously
- Daily reports — items logged in the “Delays and Issues” section can be promoted to tracked issues
An issue contains:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Title | Short description of the problem |
| Description | Detailed explanation |
| Priority | Low, Medium, High, Critical |
| Assignee | Person responsible for resolution |
| Due date | Target resolution date |
| Category | Quality, Safety, RFI, Schedule, Punch |
| Status | Open, In Progress, Resolved, Closed |
| Photos | Upload up to 10 photos |
| Drawing pin | Link to a specific location on a drawing |
Issue Workflow
Activity Log
Every action on an issue is recorded in the activity log:
- Status changes (with timestamp and user)
- Comments and replies (threaded)
- Photo additions
- Assignee changes
- Due date changes
Comments support @mentions — mentioning a user sends them an email notification.
Filtering and Dashboards
The Issues dashboard supports filtering by:
- Project
- Status (Open, In Progress, Resolved, Closed)
- Priority
- Assignee
- Category
- Date range (created, due, or resolved)
The My Issues view shows every issue assigned to the logged-in user across all projects they can access.
Critical Issues
Issues marked Critical priority:
- Appear at the top of all issue lists regardless of creation date
- Send immediate push notifications to Project Managers and Admins on the project
- Cannot be closed without a resolution note
Use the Critical priority for safety hazards, structural deficiencies, or items that will delay a milestone. Reserve it for genuinely urgent items — over-using Critical reduces its signal value.
Exporting Issues
Export the issue list as PDF or CSV from Field Reporting → Issues → Export. The export includes all fields and the activity log. This is commonly included in project closeout packages or project-owner progress reports.
