Alert Cadence
Alert cadence is the schedule and delivery method for the reminders TrueGrade sends about compliance work — expiring documents, pending verifications, and overdue responses. Where Expiration Alerts decide how many days before a deadline an alert fires, alert cadence decides how often reminders repeat and which channel carries them.
Alert cadence is configured under Settings → Alert Cadence. Only Admin and Platform Admin roles can change it, and it applies organization-wide.
What You Can Control
- Frequency — how often an unresolved item is re-sent (for example, daily until acted on, or once and then only at the next expiration threshold)
- Channel per alert type — email, Slack, Microsoft Teams, or Twilio SMS
- Quiet hours — a window (such as overnight or weekends) when non-urgent alerts are held and batched
- Digest vs. individual — send one rolled-up digest, or a separate notification per item
A Typical Cadence
| Alert type | Frequency | Channel |
|---|---|---|
| Document expiring in 30 days | Once | |
| Document expiring in 7 days | Daily | Email + Slack |
| Document expired | Daily | Email + SMS |
| Verification waiting > 1 day | Daily digest | Slack |
More frequent is not always better. Daily alerts on low-urgency items train people to ignore notifications. Reserve daily and SMS cadence for items that are genuinely time-critical, and use digests for everything else.
Getting Started
- Open Settings → Alert Cadence
- For each alert type, choose a frequency and one or more channels
- Set quiet hours if you don’t want overnight or weekend alerts
- Save — the cadence applies to alerts generated from that point forward
Chat and SMS channels must be connected first under Notification Channels before you can select them here.
