Quick Start

This guide walks you through the minimum steps to get TrueGrade operational for your organization.

Create your account

Go to app.truegrade.build  and click Start Free Trial. Enter your name, work email address, and a password. You’ll receive a verification email — click the link to confirm your address.

Set up your organization

After email verification, you’ll be prompted to create your organization:

  • Organization name — your company name as it appears on contracts and reports
  • Business address — used on generated documents like pay applications
  • Industry — select your primary specialization (residential, commercial, passive house, etc.)
  • Time zone — used for report timestamps and scheduled alerts

The user who creates the organization is automatically assigned the Admin role.

Choose a plan

Select a subscription plan on the billing screen:

PlanUsersProjectsPrice
Professional53$199/mo
Business25Unlimited$499/mo
EnterpriseUnlimitedUnlimited$899/mo

You can start a 14-day free trial on any plan without entering a credit card.

Invite your team

Navigate to Administration → Users → Invite User. Enter each team member’s email address and select their role. They’ll receive an invitation email with a link to set their password.

Common initial invites:

  • Project managers → Project Manager role
  • Chief estimators or preconstruction leads → Senior Estimator role
  • Site foremen → Foreman role
  • Bookkeepers and controllers → Accounting role
  • Field crew and laborers → Field User role

See Roles & Permissions for a full breakdown.

Create your first project

Go to Projects → New Project and fill in:

  • Project name and number
  • Client name and contact
  • Site address
  • Start and end dates
  • General contractor (if you’re a subcontractor)

Add subcontractors

From the project, open Compliance → Subcontractors → Add Subcontractor. Enter their company name and contact email. TrueGrade sends them a magic-link invitation to the self-service compliance portal where they can upload their insurance certificate, W-9, and license.

Review your dashboard

Return to the main dashboard to see your project health at a glance: compliance status, open certifications, budget variance, and pending approvals.

Import existing subcontractor records in bulk from the Compliance → Subcontractors → Import CSV option. Download the CSV template to see the required column format.
